The Measurement and Modeling Lab is the led by Dr. Rachel Fouladi, who received her training in Quantitative Psychology/Psychometrics, and has extensive background with methodlogical research in the domains of health and well-being in general as well as in special populations.

Overview

In the Measurement and Modeling Lab we tackle research quesitons aimed at advancing measurement and modelling of Psychological Phenomena. The research projects include studies of data collection and data analytic strategies that are employed in many disciplines, but with specific emphasis on understanding factors influencing people's response processes in the generation of responses to questionnaires/surveys. As Dr. Fouladi's applied interests and research background is in primarily in the domain of psychological function/well-being of adults/adolescents, students, and special clinical populations/subgroups, the main questionnaires/surveys we study in our lab are those commonly used by researchers in health psychology, sports psychology, kinesiology, behavioral medicine.

Because of the recognition that there are a variety of contexts, backgrounds, factors that come into play in one's lives and that individuals can be quite unique, e.g., may be of a particularly small clnical population (e.g., having a type of cancer that only occurs at a rate of 10 in a million), and that individuals can interpret and respond to questionnaires/surveys idiosyncratically, in addition to developing/studying/using methodologies that are commonly used in large sample research, we also develop/study/employ research strategies that are applicable to small samples, and are pursuing strategies that have been shown to have promise in N=1 research/clincial contexts.
