Psychological Foundations Lab

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What will the research be used for?

Research conducted in our lab will contribute in a variety of ways to the understanding of infant and child development.  In particular, most of our studies focus on exploring the processes by which communicative and social-interactive skills are acquired and developed.  Results from our studies may be published in academic journals or covered in public media.  However, no individual information about participants will ever be disclosed.

What if I choose to participate in the study but my child does not want to engage in the activities?

We hope that your child will enjoy the activities involved in our studies, however, if your child is not comfortable with participating, we will either take a break or stop the study entirely and reimburse you for your time.

Will I be provided with free parking?

If the study that you are participating in requires you to drive to our lab at the Simon Fraser University Burnaby campus, we will provide a free parking space for you that will be located close to our lab complex.

Who can come to the lab with me and my child?

Individuals who arrive at the lab who are not directly participating in a study will be able to stay in our waiting room until testing is complete.

Am I able to cancel an appointment after it has been made?

Yes. If you need to cancel or re-schedule an appointment, please contact us by phone (778-782-6958) or email (scdrlab.sfu@gmail.com).

Can I see the results of the study that my child participates in?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide individual results, however, we can provide group results when data collection is complete.
